Ideal for use at home or in a base camp, this filter is a large plastic vessel into which you pour a couple gallons of water. The water is filtered by three independent filter elements, each of which has a capacity of up to 13,000 gallons. The water drips into the catch vessel at the base, which features a convenient tap. It produces up to 10 gallons of filtered water a day at a rate of about three pints per hour.This system gives you a total filter capacity of up to 39,000 gallons! This syphon filter is much smaller and more portable than the Drip Filter, but uses the same technology. It is also a more cost-effective alternative to other Katadyn filters. Because the filters are smaller, they are good for up to 2600 gallons. But at three gallons of purified water per day, this filter would last more than two years, with regular service.You have to provide both the starter vessel and the catch basin. But by placing the filter in a bucket and a catch vessel lower down, you can produce a pint an hour or more.
